Background

1985
Sulnor was formed on the 5th of February by ex-employees of Metalomecânica Ramoa – a metal mechanic company in Braga – which at the time was going through serious financial difficulties.

At its foundation, the company had 11 permanent employees, 9 of which were acting partners.

1986
Sulnor extended its activity to two new business areas - luminaries and naked cables connectors - whose production allowed the company’s clients to avoid importing these materials from outside the country.

1987
The company was formally qualified as a supplier of EDP – Electricidade de Portugal.

1990
The company developed a project for the production of slam shut valves for the installation of LPG gas (approved by the IPQ in 1993), and at the same time began exporting casting parts to three French companies.

1997
According to measure 3.5 of the Sindpedip’s program, the company improved its existing facilities, taking a significant step in the improvement of the working conditions. The operational infra-structures also went through an important upgrade, also leading to an improvement in the quality of the working conditions.

The company was awarded the certification of its Quality System according to Standard NP EN ISO 9002, by SGS ICS, in accordance with the certificate of conformity no. 9311/17/20700/27800 of the 29th of December 2000.
